Federal Financial Aid
Requirements
In order to stretch ECAAP program funding as far as possible, all apprentices are required to apply for Federal Financial Aid, accept any Pell Grant funding awarded, and apply that funding toward the required related instruction for ECAAP. All apprentices must show proof of application and/or a copy of their award letter from the U.S. Department of Education before they will be placed on the approved ECAAP participation list, which is updated each semester and sent to our community college educational partners.

Applications
Applications for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) are available for download on various Federal student aid websites. The online application process is quickly and easily completed with a copy of last year’s tax return.

Students who wish to obtain a paper FAFSA may call the Federal Student Aid Information Center at (800) 433-3243 or by visiting Ed Pubs. Students may request up to three copies of the paper application and should receive their FAFSA in 3-7 business days.

Funding
Typically, there are three main types of Federal Student Aid:
  • Pell Grants
  • Loans (subsidized and/or unsubsidized)
  • Student worker funds

Apprentices should only accept Pell Grant Awards. (This is grant funding you will not have to pay back.) Any apprentice costs for books, fees and tuition for required ECAAP classes that is not covered by a Pell Grant, will be covered by ECAAP.
