How To Become a Sponsor
Getting Registered
Any center-based child care facility, preschool, or family group home may become a registered ECAAP sponsor. This holistic system empowers employees to:
  • Take charge of their own job performance and successes
  • Use their skills and knowledge to the fullest extent possible
  • Solve problems through cooperation with others
  • Align their individual and team goals with those of the sponsor

ECAAP allows a sponsor to grow their own highly-skilled employees to develop and maintain high-quality early childhood services.

Step One
Identify a need for training and a business / organizational commitment to providing the time and resources necessary for program success. Through the use of this structured, team-driven approach, ECAAP sponsors embrace the program as a vehicle for continuous improvement and organizational change.

Step Two
The second step starts with a look at the ECAAP roles and requirements. If your center can meet the expectations listed, you are ready to contact an ECAAP Program Consultant and develop your center’s Standards of Apprenticeship.

This document has three basic components:
  • The HR Piece - the 22 standards as it will be applied to the center’s program
  • The Work Process - outlines the on-the-job training that will be provided by the sponsor
  • The Related Instruction Outline - illustrates the required supplemental instruction that will be obtained by each apprentice

Once the Standards of Apprentice have been developed, they must be approved and registered with the Kansas Apprenticeship Council. You will then be ready to start apprentices in your program!
